Ring in New Year with IPM levee

On Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013 (snow date of Jan. 13), the Municipality of West Perth and the International Plowing Match Committee are holding a levee in the Mitchell and District Community Centre from 1-5 p.m.

We are featuring “A Walk Through The Past 100 Years of the IPM.” There are 10 volunteers each taking a decade of the matches and preparing displays of such with the County and West Perth focusing on the upcoming 2013 match. The Archives, the Museum, the Ontario Plowmen’s Association, the Perth County Plowmen’s Association and others will also be in attendance with their displays.

These committee folks are looking for any mementos of any past plowing matches that you would be willing to lend to the display, such as cookbooks, pamphlets, newspaper clippings, trophies, pictures, posters, Queens of the Furrow pictures or whatever you many have. f you are willing to lend any of the above, please contact me at 519-348-8926 or by email at p.taylor@ezlink.ca.

A Town Crier has been engaged to make a public pronouncement of the 2013 International Plowing Match to be held in West Perth. There will be entertainment, a time to socialize and reminisce with your coffee and light lunch for those in attendance.

This is looking to an exciting afternoon and we are extending an invitation to everyone. See you then.

Sincerely,
Pat Taylor,
Mitchell
