Position Summary:

Collection Management & Development
1. Maintain local registers for archives holdings in all branches and all off-site storage facilities.
2. Maintain proper storage environment for archives holdings in all branches.
3. Ensure that archives holdings are stored and handled properly.
4. Catalogue archives holdings in accordance with industry standards
5. Accession donations in accordance with Archives mandate.
6. Accession transfers of local government records in accordance with applicable Records Retention by-law.

Client Service
1. Lead in providing research and reference services for general public and municipal staff.
2. Retrieve archives holdings from stacks and off-site storage areas for researchers.

Public Outreach
1. Lead in volunteer management for all sites.
2. Prepare articles and displays highlighting archives holdings etc for publication and community events.
3. Give talks highlighting archives holdings at community meetings or attend such events as representative of the Archives.

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs quality control in all functions, and initiates corrective action as required.
2. Lead in maintaining statistics of visitors etc
3. Lead in maintaining inventory of books for sale.
4. Lead in maintaining internal filing system and branch records per Records Retention By-law and departmental procedures.
5. Carries out Health & Safety responsibilities as per County policies.
6. Performs other assigned functions, as required (i.e. petty cash reports, ordering supplies and building security).

Qualifications:
  • 2 or 3 year post secondary diploma in Archives or Library Technician program.
  • Knowledge of archival standards and history through minimum 1 year related work experience.
  • High level of interpersonal, communication and customer relations skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, be detail oriented and accurate.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Shift:

35 hrs/Week

Salary Band:

$36,254.40 to $42,424.20
