Are you interested in disability issues?
Do you want to make a difference in your community?
Perth County is recruiting paid volunteers for the Accessibility Advisory Committee.
The Perth County Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC) provides vision and advice to the Councils of the County of Perth and Member Municipalities to create a welcoming, inclusive and accessible community.
The role of the AAC is to:
-
Assist the Councils in preparing the Annual Joint Accessibility Plan in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
-
Advise the Councils on accessibility issues regarding buildings, structures, municipal premises and services.
-
Work with community groups regarding accessibility issues.
Members come from different backgrounds, but the majority of members on the AAC must be people with disabilities. Applicants must live in the Municipality of North Perth, Municipality of West Perth, Township of Perth East or Township of Perth South.
If you are interested in participating on this committee or for more information please contact us at accessibility@perthcounty.ca or 519-301-1979. Let us know who you are, where you’re from, and why you’re interested. Also let us know what skills and experience you would bring to the committee.
Members of the public interested in the Accessibility Advisory Committee must apply on or before December 3, 2010.
Thank you for your interest in improving Perth County’s accessibility!
