Starting September 8, 2026, new security enhancements will be in effect at the Perth County Courthouse (1 Huron Street, Stratford).
Stratford Police Service will maintain a full-time presence to provide security monitoring and security screening for visitors to the Courthouse-side of the facility. To access the building, members of the public will be required to pass through a metal detector and can expect a physical search of belongings.
Visitors are encouraged to leave extra time to complete the security screening process.

It is with sadness that Perth County has learned of the passing of former County Council Member Fred Knechtel. Fred served as Reeve of Ellice Township and as a member of Perth County Council.
Fred took great pride in his community and was committed to municipal service. His contributions to local government and his dedication to the community will be remembered.
The County extends its heartfelt condolences to Fred’s family and friends at this difficult time. In honour of his life and service to Perth County, flags will remain lowered at County facilities until the day of his memorial service.
OTTAWA, ON – Members of County Council and Staff joined more than 3,000 participants representing 444 municipalities from across Ontario at the 2026 Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Conference this week. In addition to participating in conference sessions, representatives from Perth County led two delegation meetings with the Province during the conference.
It is with great sadness that Perth County marks the passing of Lloyd Robertson.
Lloyd had deep roots in Perth County, having grown up in Stratford. He became one of Canada's most respected journalists during a distinguished career spanning decades, covering many of the nation's and the world's most significant events on television and radio.

In honour of Lloyd's life, remarkable career, and lasting connection to Perth County, flags at the Mitchell Public Works Yard, the Perth County Courthouse, and Perth County Paramedic Services Headquarters have been lowered and will remain at half-mast until the day of his funeral.
STRATFORD, ON – Perth County Paramedics are responding to the needs of some of the most vulnerable in the community this summer through a new initiative to distribute care kits individuals experiencing homelessness. The care kits are intended to provide some relief and much-needed and highly requested items during the summer months.
A temporary all-way stop had been installed at the intersection of Perth Road 163 and Perth Line 20 in Fullarton.
The temporary traffic control measure is required to accommodate increased traffic volumes in the area resulting from ongoing construction of the new roundabout at Highway 23 and Perth Line 20 in Russeldale. The roundabout project is being led by the Ministry of Transportation (MTO).
