Going to Court:

Provincial Offences Courts have resumed (early resolutions, trials, set date, adjournments, etc.). These matters are able to proceed by Zoom (audio or video) appearance or in-person appearance.

Given the continued operational impacts of COVID-19 to court operations, the Ontario Court of Justice recognizes the need to offer remote and in-person court options for parties and participants in POA proceedings to ensure access to justice is maintained.

Perth County Provincial Offences Court has expanded the use of technology in the courtroom. The Perth County Provincial Offences Court uses Zoom for remote appearances. The use of Zoom allows defendants to appear by video or audio on their scheduled appearance date. Click the button below for how to attend a Zoom appearance.

If you do not exercise one of the options within 15 days of receiving your offence notice, you will be deemed not to dispute the charge and a conviction may be entered against you. A Clerk of the Court will review the Certificate of Offence for defectiveness before entering a conviction.  Within 15 days of becoming aware of the conviction, you may apply for review by a Justice of the Peace.

Failure to pay the fine imposed upon conviction by the due date will result in one or more of the following:

  • For certain offences, including parking infractions, the Ontario Ministry of Transportation could refuse to issue or validate your vehicle permit
  • For certain offences, including speeding, your driver's licence could be suspended
  • You will be charged an additional administrative fee
  • Your defaulted fine will be referred to a collection agency
  • Your defaulted fine information will be given to a credit bureau.

If you need more time to pay a provincial offence fine, contact the court office noted on the back of your ticket.

If you have already been convicted, you will be asked to fill out a form(s) that will be reviewed by a Clerk of the Court. This form will require you to fill in all of the information regarding your ticket including how much you have paid so far and a specific date that you would like it extended to.

Use the complaint or feedback form to comment on the service you received at this court administration office.

The Provincial Offices staff are committed to equal access to justice for all, and are working to ensure that people with disabilities can use and benefit from services equally and free from discrimination. Should you require assistance or accommodation in order to access our services, we will work with you to determine how best to meet your needs.

At the Perth County Courthouse, accessible parking is available in the parking lot off Huron Street, and an accessible entrance to the lower floor is available within meters of the accessible parking. Should you require assistance to access the courts on the third floor, there is an operator-assisted lift, which can be accessed at every level.
