PERTH COUNTY, ON – On Saturday, April 18, Perth County, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Stratford, completed an exciting roadside tree planting initiative. The continued partnership with the local staff at Upper Thames River Conservation Authority (UTRCA) is also greatly appreciated. I also wish to express thanks and appreciation to the local landowners on Perth Road 112 for their co-operation and collaboration on this project”
“Our vision at the Rotary Club is to bring people together to create lasting change in our communities,” said Brent Shackleton, a member of the Rotary Club of Stratford. “This tree planting project is a great example of that in action. We appreciate the partnership with Perth County and the strong community support behind this project.”
County staff, in partnership with the Upper Thames Conservation Authority (UTRCA), developed a planting plan that considered tree species, local land features, utilities, and drainage. For the safety of both the participants and the travelling public, a temporary closure of Perth Road 112 was in place to accommodate the large number of volunteers and materials. 5 different species of trees were planted along the roadside including: Sugar Maple, Basswood, Red Maple, Bur Oak, and Hackberry.
