PERTH COUNTY, ON – On February 8, 2024, the Economic Developers Council of Ontario (EDCO) honored the Perth County Economic Development and Tourism Division with two Awards of Excellence at the 67th Annual EDCO Conference & Showcase in Toronto. These accolades recognize outstanding projects that serve as trailblazing examples, setting the stage for future economic development best practices.

The distinguished projects that earned recognition for Perth County include:

• Perth County Farms to Stratford Tables - Community Economic Development - Rural Award
• Perth County Full House Tour - Workforce Development and Resident Attraction - Rural Award

The Awards of Excellence from EDCO highlight the proactive approach and forward-thinking strategies embraced by Perth County, creating a positive impact on the local economy. These projects not only contribute to the economic well-being of the region, but also serve as inspiration for communities across Ontario. Perth County was also recognized as a finalist in the Inclusive Community-Based Initiative Award Category for their Mystery Farm Hop Tour. Meredith Forget, Manager of Economic Development and Tourism, presented on this initiative as a panelist at the Empowering Rural Ontario: Fostering Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for Sustainable Economic Development session at the conference.

Forget stated, “We are honored to receive these prestigious awards from EDCO – the robust strength of our partnerships has been instrumental in the success of these projects. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team and the collaborative spirit within our community. These projects reflect our commitment to driving economic development while fostering inclusivity and enhancing the overall quality of life in Perth County."
