FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PERTH COUNTY, ON – Perth County is excited to announce the opening of the autumn Stewardship Program application intake on July 2, 2025. This grant program supports local landowners and community groups in enhancing the natural environment through projects focused on planting windbreaks, block plantings, forest restoration, forest health assessments, and community tree sale events.
The Stewardship Program empowers those passionate about improving the health and sustainability of Perth County’s landscapes through grant funding and expertise. Whether you are a private landowner looking to establish protective windbreaks, a community group eager to participate in tree planting events, or interested in assessing and restoring forest health, this program offers valuable support to bring your project to life.
Those interested are encouraged to review the 2025 Program Guide prior to applying. The guide offers helpful tips and guidance to prepare a successful application. If unsure whether your project qualifies or want to explore potential opportunities, staff are available to discuss your project ideas and provide expert advice tailored to your lands or community initiatives. The program is popular, so applicants are encouraged to apply early.
“This program is a wonderful opportunity for residents and groups to actively contribute to the health of our environment,” said Hannah Cann, Resilience and Stewardship Coordinator at Perth County. “We look forward to receiving innovative and impactful project proposals this summer, for the autumn planting season.”
Since the Stewardship program began in 2024, the program has supported the planting of over 18,800 trees resulting in 27.6 kilometers of new windbreak and 26.8 acres of reforestation or rehabilitation of forested lands.
