PERTH COUNTY, ON – Perth County is celebrating GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Day with the launch of a new interactive map. The new “Lite” map is a light-weight web GIS application that allows users to view basic geographic features at faster speeds.
“Maps are an important way to connect and explore our community.” said Rhonda Ehgoetz, Warden of Perth County. “While high-speed networks are expanding in Perth County, this new Interactive Lite Map will be an excellent tool to provide the public faster access to important information.”
“Interactive maps provide a unique way to view data and explore the County.” said Gary White, GIS Coordinator for Perth County. “The Lite version of our Interactive Map allows members of the public to quickly navigate some of the most requested core data managed by the County’s GIS Team.”
The new map provides a view of the most popular data layers used by the public each day. Data includes:
Beyond simply viewing the data on the new site, users are able to search specific locations, use measure and draw tools, and click to identify spatial features. Maps can also be printed directly from the site allowing users to create custom printouts.
The new interactive map and can be found by visiting www.perthcounty.ca/GIS. Staff encourage the public to visit the new site and submit feedback if they would like to see any additional features added in the future.
