Perth County Digital Service Squad by Digital Main Street


The Digital Transformation Grant 4.0 Application Portal has now Re-Opened!

Eligible brick-and-mortar small businesses can start the application process now by creating an account and completing the digital assessment and online training through the Digital Main Street Portal. For all questions and inquires, please reach us at digitalservicesquad@perthcounty.ca


Our Perth County Digital Main Street Squad is a team of trained students and/or recent graduates with strong Technology and Digital Marketing skills and experiences that provides FREE one-on-one assistance to businesses who are interested in improving their digital presence.

Through the Digital Main Street Squad businesses receive targeted support to get started, grow their digital presence and grow their business.

Digital Main Street provides: One-on-one assistance through the Digital Service Squad program to provide your business with FREE digital transformation consulting and coaching. This can include but is not limited to:

  • A digital assessment of your business’ digital literacy
  • Access to a free online video-based digital transformation training program
  • Website – review, updating, creation, best practices
  • Social Media – support, best practices, advertising, and more
  • Technology – support and guidance for the best options of technology tools to implement for your business
  • Free 360 photo session for your business
  • Analytics - A look into your SEO (Search Engine Optimization), Google My Business, etc. 
  • Miscellaneous Digital Transformation Support: loyalty programs, point of sale systems, ecommerce, back-end business operations support (i.e. setting up QuickBooks etc.)
  • And More!

Digital Transformation Grant 4.0 by Digital Main Street

The Digital Transformation Grant (DTG) program is focused on assisting small businesses with their adoption of technologies. The program provides training, advisory support and grants to brick-and-mortar small businesses looking to increase their capacity through digital transformation.

The objective of the Digital Transformation Grant focuses on the following:

Supporting brick-and-mortar small businesses through access to an online assessment to determine the digital needs of their business.

Provide resources to assist eligible brick-and-mortar small businesses with the execution of their DTP ($2,500 grant)

Knowledge transfer through an online training course that provides the basics of how digital technology will transform their business for success and equips business owners with the digital literacy skills needed to develop a Digital Transformation Plan (DTP).

Why are the services Free?
 Yes! Through the support of Digital Main Street, we are able to focus our efforts primarily into helping small business develop a digital presence.
Is my business and I eligible?
All businesses (including home-based businesses) located within Perth County are eligible to receive coaching and support as well as any other services available provided by the Digital Service Squad
Where do I start?

Meet the Perth County DSS Team

DSS Team Member Ricky Zhao. Email rzhao@perthcounty.caRicky has started his journey at Perth County as a summer student working for the Economic and Development department. He now works as a Digital Service Squad Team Member working directly with business all around the county with their digital presence needs.  

Ricky has a Bachelor's Degree in Financial Mathematics at Wilfrid Laurier University and is currently back in university to obtain a Bachelor's of Education Degree and teach STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) to elementary and high school students. Ricky has continuous knowledge in computer and technology and the important use of the subject matter when developing / maintaining a business.

DSS Team Member Aylene Van Den Eijnden. Email avandeneijnden@perthcounty.ca Aylene began as a Digital Service Squad Team Member back in 2021 working alongside Perth County businesses to with their digital projects.

Aylene is currently working toward a Bachelor of Business Administration with a specialization in Marketing at Wilfrid Laurier University. She is able to help businesses with DTG 4.0 applications, website set-up and maintenance, 360-degree photos, and anything else digital you can think of. Aylene is also able to help with your business’ digital marketing and is willing to teach you all the tips and tricks to market your business on social media.

Additional Programs and Grants

Canadian Digital Adoption Program (CDAP)

As part of the Canada Digital Adoption Program, the Government of Canada has partnered with Digital Main Street and their ShopHERE powered by Google program to deliver the Grow Your Business Online grant to small businesses across the country.

Eligible businesses will receive a micro-grant of up to $2,400 to help with the costs related to adopting e-commerce and supported by a network of e-commerce advisors.

ShopHERE powered by Google

ShopHERE is funded by the province of Ontario and key corporate sponsors to help independent Ontario small businesses and artists get selling online at no cost.

What does the program do?
  • helps you create and configure your online store
  • trains you on how to manage it
  • provides support to get your online store live
  • helps with marketing the store
Who is eligible? 
  • under 10 full time employees (25 if a restaurant)
  • registered business in Ontario
  • can be a business or artist
  • home based or commercial business
What are the program benefits?
  • free 1:1 support with building and launching an online store
  • free .CA domain registration
  • and many more benefits

R.A.I.S.E.

Racialized and Indigenous Supports for Entrepreneurs (R.A.I.S.E.) is a service and grant program developed and administered by the Toronto Association of Business Improvement Areas (TABIA), the Ontario Business Improvement Area Association (OBIAA) and in partnership with the Parkdale Centre for Innovation (PCI) to support Indigenous, Black and other Racialized entrepreneurs in Ontario to start and scale a business. R.A.I.S.E. will provide access to business development training, culturally responsive support services and access to grant funding. The program is funded by the Government of Ontario.

 

The program provides non-repayable grants of up to $10,000 to eligible racialized small businesses and entrepreneurs upon the completion of a structured coaching program and delivers a coaching program that will provide individual business advice and coaching to applicants as part of the program to support implementation of the required business transformation plan.
