Perth County Paramedics Provide Care Kits to Individuals Experiencing Homelessness

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

STRATFORD, ON – Perth County Paramedics are responding to the needs of some of the most vulnerable in the community this summer through a new initiative to distribute care kits individuals experiencing homelessness. The care kits are intended to provide some relief and much-needed and highly requested items during the summer months.

The kits include a variety of summer supplies such as sunscreen, electrolyte beverages, bug spray and personal care items to help individuals stay safe, hydrated, and healthy particularly during periods of hot weather. In addition, the kits also contain more information about accessing local community support services. A total of 100 care kits will be distributed by Perth County Paramedics throughout the summer while supplies last. The distribution also provides an important opportunity for Paramedics to check on the health and wellbeing of those experiencing homelessness.

This initiative is funded through the Perth County Paramedic Services Community Care Fund, which supports projects and initiatives that improve the well-being of vulnerable residents throughout Perth County.

"Paramedics often encounter individuals facing significant social and health challenges," said Tristan Barter, Deputy Chief of Operations, Perth County Paramedic Services. "This initiative is funded through The Perth County Paramedic Community Care Fund which allows us to extend our support beyond emergency medical care and provide practical assistance that promotes health, dignity, and community connection."

About Perth County Paramedic Community Care Fund
The Paramedic Community Care Fund was established by Perth County Paramedic Services in 2015. Community members often express the desire to offer gifts of appreciation to thank Paramedics for their service. Instead of physical gifts to Paramedics, the fund encourages residents to “pay it forward” by donating to the fund to help community members in need, especially in situations where paramedics encounter social or financial barriers to health.
