Perth County Paramedic Services, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and Ontario Health, support a unique group of Community Paramedics working in innovative community roles. The Mobile Integrated Health (MIH) Team consists of Community Paramedics providing non-emergent medical care, system navigation roles, assessments, and referrals to assist in the overall health and wellness of residents.
The MIH team is available 24/7 to provide practical solutions, increased system understanding, and to help encourage the right care, at the right time. We deploy our resources across Perth County in an organized manner, increasing efficiency and responsiveness. We are conscientious of the limited health resources available, and work to divert low acuity concerns from Primary Care and the Hospital systems.
The Paramedics working for the MIH Team operate in an expanded role, outside traditional emergency response. They receive additional training, and the leadership team works closely with a licensed physician to ensure safe and appropriate care.
With considerable collaboration with the established resources in the community, we work to improve health access and equity for those requiring additional support. We appreciate the insight and feedback from our clients and partners, and that feedback helps us adapt and respond to the community needs.
Once a referral is made the team will obtain consent and follow-up to determine if they can assist and play a role in your health journey.
