Perth County Public Works department is responsible for 492 km of roads and 114 bridges that stretch across the four area municipalities. Click the sections below to learn more:

Road Conditions and Weather

Visit our Perth County Road Conditions & Weather page for road condition information. We work to update it on a best effort basis. It's for County roads and not MTO or member municipality (Township) roads.

2022 Road Projects

Perth Road 131 Rehabilitation

  • Location: Milverton to Perth Line 86
  • Construction Details: Road recycling and surface paving, small diameter culvert replacements and granular shouldering.
  • Timing: July – September, 2022
  • Impact: Rolling lane closures, Pilot Vehicle. The travelling public can expect lane reductions and delays during all construction phases.

Perth Road 139 Asphalt Resurfacing

  • Location: St. Marys to Whalen Line
  • Construction Details: Application of a Stress Absorbing Membrane Interlayer (SAMI) followed by surface asphalt paving and granular shouldering.
  • Timing: June - July, 2022
  • Impact: Rolling lane closures, Pilot Vehicle. The travelling public can expect lane reductions and delays during all construction phases.

Perth Line 8 Rehabilitation

  • Location: Kirkton to Perth Road 163
  • Construction Details: Road Recycling and Surface Paving, small diameter culvert replacements, culvert replacement and granular shouldering.
  • Timing: July – September, 2022
  • Impact: Alternating full road closures during culvert replacements. Rolling lane closures with pilot vehicle during recycling and paving operations. The travelling public can expect lane reductions and delays during all construction phases.  

Poole Bridge Rehabilitation

  • Location: Perth Road 121
  • Construction Details: Bridge rehabilitation
  • Timing: May – June, 2022
  • Impact: Alternating bridge lane closures controlled by temporary traffic signals.  The travelling public can expect delays during bridge work.

Millbank Bridge Rehabilitation and Asphalt resurfacing

  • Location: Perth Road 121
  • Construction Details: Bridge rehabilitation
  • Timing: June - July, 2022
  • Impact: Alternating bridge lane closures controlled by temporary traffic signals.  The travelling public can expect delays during bridge work.  Full closure will be required during paving operations – detour to be in place during full closure. 

Notices of Construction

The daily maintenance of roads within Perth County will include:

  • Pavement maintenance, crack sealing, spray patching and line painting.
  • Shoulder maintenance         
  • Various culvert replacements, including some driveway culverts

Winter Maintenance and Snowplowing

The County of Perth manages a winter maintenance program to ensure public safety on County Roads during the winter months from approximately November 1 to April 30th. Refer to By-law 3282-2012. This includes staff and contractors working seven days a week, twenty hours a day as required.

Winter maintenance:

  • Winter road patrol and 20-hour winter weather watch
  • Snowplowing
  • Sanding and salting operations on County roads when necessary, including pre-wetting of salt and sand

Reduced Load Limits on County Roads

The 2019 Weight Restriction Season for ALL roads within the jurisdiction of the County of Perth will begin annually on March 1st through April 30th. 

The weight restriction is five (5) tonnes per axle, By-law 3411-2114.
